Meters & fit-out
DEWA Meter and Office Fit-out Electrical Approval
Fitting out an office, shop or clinic in Dubai usually means electrical drawings for the building management, a fit-out permit from the authority that governs the area, and sometimes a new or separated DEWA meter.
As a DEWA approved contractor in Dubai, we prepare the electrical side of the fit-out package so it is accepted the first time by the landlord and authorities, and we coordinate DEWA where metering changes are needed.
Who this is for
- Companies fitting out new office space
- Retail, clinic and restaurant tenants
- Landlords dividing a floor into separately metered units
- Fit-out contractors who need the electrical package handled
What we handle
- Lighting, power and small power layouts
- DB schedules and load calculation for the fit-out area
- Landlord and building management electrical submissions
- New meter, additional meter or meter separation requests to DEWA
- Coordination with the fit-out permit for Dubai Municipality, DDA or Trakhees as applicable
- Testing, inspection and completion documents
How the process works
- Scope and authority checkWe confirm who governs the building and what the landlord requires for fit-out approval.
- Electrical designLayouts, DB schedules and load calculations are prepared from your interior layout.
- Landlord and authority submissionDrawings are submitted to building management and included in the fit-out permit package.
- DEWA meteringWhere a new or separated meter is needed, the DEWA request is submitted and tracked.
- CompletionInstallation is tested and inspected, and completion documents are handed over.
Documents checklist
Have these ready, or send what you have and we will tell you what is missing.
- Tenancy contract or title deed
- Trade licence
- Interior layout drawings from the designer
- Building management fit-out guidelines
- Landlord NOC for electrical works and metering changes
- Existing DEWA premise number, if the unit already has a meter
How long does it take?
Fit-out approvals run in parallel with design and are often limited by landlord review times. Starting the electrical package early avoids it becoming the item that delays handover.
Common questions
Does every fit-out need a DEWA approval?
Not every fit-out does. DEWA is involved when the load changes or a meter is added or separated. The fit-out permit itself comes from Dubai Municipality, DDA, Trakhees or another authority depending on location.
Can one floor be split into separately metered units?
Often yes, subject to the landlord's agreement and the building's metering arrangement. We check feasibility before you commit to a layout.
Who signs the drawings?
Drawings are prepared and submitted under the registered contractor or consultant appointed for the project.
